OBITUARY
Lizzie A. Peckham was born in Howard Co., Iowa, Feb. 10, 1861, and died after a short illness at the home of her father where she had gone to to{sic} assist in caring for a sick brother on March 6, 1899.
She attended school in the home district and in the public school of Cresco until 10 years of age. The following three were spent in teaching and in assisting an invalid mother in the care of a large family and on May 27, 1880 she was united in marriage with Albert L. Wallace residing with him in the immediate neighborhood of her girlhood home until the time of her death. Six children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy, one, little Leonard at the age of four years. She leaves her husband, one daughter, Marion, and two baby boys, Ronald, Earl and Albert Lowell, one sister, four brothers and an aged father to finish life’s journey without her loving counsel and the sunshine of her presence.
Her whole life spent among the people where she was born was an open book that all who chose might read. She was a dutiful daughter, a loving sister, the noblest of wives, the most self-sacrificing of mothers, the truest of friends, faithful in every relation of life.
May the great Lord of the universe look down in tender pity upon her helpless little ones guiding their feet in the same path of rectitude which she has followed. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Gammons her former pastor. She had been a faithful member of the M. E. church for twenty years. Her body rests in beautiful Oak Lawn Cemetery.
