In Rockvale, Colorado, Monday Nov. 22, 1897, Charles E. Berry, aged 74 years.
Deceased was a native of Pennsylvania, moving to the west in the 50s, coming to Howard county in 1857, first locating at Foreston, but soon thereafter locating in New Oregon, coming to Cresco with the hegira that left there in 1867. He was elected County Judge in 1861, and re-elected in 1868, serving four years. He was during his residence here engaged in the practice of the law, the writer having had many a legal contest with him. He left here for Colorado for his health some 20 years since.
