Lynette Stopperan, 87, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Howard Residential Care Facility.
Lynette June was born on November 18th, 1923 in Howard County. She was the daughter of Ingval C and Burnetta Frank Natvig. She graduated from Cresco High School in 1940. She briefly worked in Mason City and Chicago before she married Carl Stopperan on June 9th, 1945.
Together, they lived in several different homes in Cresco until moving the "old" Immanuel Lutheran Church parsonage to the south of town. There they raised 7 children and gave them loving roots and wings. She devoted her life supporting them in all their endeavors.
Before her failing eyesight, Lynette enjoyed sewing, reading, music, gardening, cooking and baking. She got enjoyment out of the activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
In the past five years, she was blessed to have a caring home at Howard Residential Care Facility and in the last weeks, loving support from Howard County Hospice.
She is survived by three daughters: Bev (Dave) Kirkpatrick, Dominion City, MB, Canada, Karla (Rocky) Hyberger, Litchfield, MN, and Lori Stopperan, Minneapolis, MN; three sons: Bill (Jean) Stopperan, Windsor, Co, Dale (Kris) Stopperan, Lynden, WA, and Jahn (Sue) Stopperan, Lakeville, MN; nineteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one son-in-law, John (Lynda) Mikkelson, Cresco, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, dear daughter, Sandy Mikkelson, and sister Irene Seele.
