Victor Mecklenburg, 74, of Cresco, IA passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, IA.

Victor was born on September 15, 1935 in Nashua, IA the son of John and Clara (Christenson) Mecklenburg. He graduated from High School in Harmony, MN. Following graduation, Victor enlisted in the United States Army, where he served. He was deployed to Korea where he was a mechanic in the Motorcades. Following his time in the service, he entered into marriage for a time, and to this union a son was born, and a daughter was adopted. They later divorced. He then remarried to Patricia Joanne Daggit. To this union a daughter Vicky and a son Mike were born.

His love was for birds, favorite dog, "Peanut", being outside gardening, and his best friend and companion, Margaret Olson. He was always there for anybody needing a helping hand.

He is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Brian) Hammer of Dunkerton, IA, a son Mike (Susan) Macklenburg of Virginia Beach, VA, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, two sisters; Shirley Rickard and Alvina Block, and a cousin Marian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia in 1994, and a brother Elfred.

Visitation:
Two hours prior to services at the funeral home.

Service:
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA at 11:00 a.m.
