Obituary from a Howard County Newspaper
Adolf Kakac was born in Policka, Czecho Slovakia and died April 21, 1930, at his home 5 miles west of Cresco, aged 49 years, death due to heart trouble.

He was the son of Joseph and Frances Kakac, the former of whom died 9 years ago. He came to America with his parents when five years of age. They resided in Milwaukee 4 years when his father was engaged at his trade of shoemaking. They came from there to a farm near Maple Leaf where he assisted his father in grubbing the timber before they could work the land. At 12 years of age he began to make his own living and when his parents left the farm and moved to Saratoga where they lived 14 years, he took charge of the place.

After two years he was married to Miss Mary Kubicek and to them four children were born: Edward, 16; Gladys, 14; Walter, 9; and Kenneth 1 year old, who with their mother survive. He is also survived by his aged mother, two brothers, Joseph of Bonair and Frank of Milwaukee and five sisters, Mrs. John Wright; Mrs. John Benzing of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. John Bachman, Mrs. John Zapoticky (sic), Mrs. Teo. Counter, all of Milwaukee.

Mr. Kakac was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good neighbor, always ready to help the needy. He was honest and upright in his business dealings and a highly respected by all who knew him as was testified by the largely attended funeral which was held at Saratoga Wednesday, April 23, Rev. Joseph Sesulka officiating. Burial was at Saratoga.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were his brother and sisters, Frank, Mrs. John Bachman, Mrs. John Zapotecky, all of Milwaukee; the other two sisters were unable to attend on account of the serious illness of their mother who is 82 yers old.

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the relatives, friends and neighbors for their kind assistance and expressions of sympathy during the death of our loved one. We also thank the choir and gratefully acknowledge the beautiful offerings.

Adolph Kakac, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kakac, was born in Policka, Czechoslovakia, and was 49 years, 10 months and 12 days of age at the time of his death April 21st, 1930 at his home just west of Howard Center.

He came with his parents to this coutnry when 5 years of age, and spent his life in farming at Saratoga, Maple Leaf and Cresco. He was united in marriage with Mary Kubicek, who with their four children, survives. The children are Edward, age 16; Gladys, age 14; Walter, age 9; Kenneth, age 1 year. He is also survived by his mother, age 82 years, and the following brothers and sisters; Joseph, Bonair; Frank, Milwaukee, Mrs. John Benzing and Mrs. John Wright of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. John Bachman, Mrs. John Zapotecky and Mrs. Theodore Counter of Milwaukee.

Deceased was enjoying good health and his death came as a great shock to his family, relatives and friends. Company was entertained at their home the evening before and he retired in the best of health. His lifeless body was discovered by his wife at 4 o'clock the following morning. Death was due to heart trouble.

Mr. Kakac will be greatly missed by his family and his friends. He was the best of fathers, always kind and considerate of his family. When his parents first came to this country they resided in Milwaukee for four years where his father worked at the shoemaker's trade. He worked earnestly to assist them in every way possible. When they moved to this county they settled on a farm near Maple Leaf. It was heavily wooded and they worked hard to make it a comfortable and profitable home. After his parents moved to Saratoga, he took possession of the old home and resided there until he married. The remainder of his life was spent on various farms in this community.

Funeral services were held Wednesdy afternoon, April 23rd at Saratoga and burial was made at the Saratoga Cemetery. The Rev. Sesulka, pastor, officiated.

Relatives in attendance at the funeral were: Frank Kakac, Mrs. John Backman (sic), Mrs. John Zapotecky of Milwaukee; a large nubmer of friends from Cresco, Saratoga and Maple Leaf.
