Silver Wedding-
June 25th, 1876, at Twelve Mile Lake, Emmet county, Iowa, occurred the marriage of Mr. Ralph R. Thompson, of Cresco, with Miss Mary Ulrlckson, of the former place. As Mr. Thompson was absent on the 25th of June, 1901, when the 25th anniversary of their marriage occurred the numerous friends of himself and his wife came upon them at their home on the evening of June 29th about 200 strong for a rousing celebration of the anniversary. Beside their many Cresco friends who honored them by their presence there were many from Decorah and other parts of Winneshiek county. They were beautifully serenaded by Cresco’s New Band with several of its best selections, after which the young people were given an opportunity to dance on the lawn to music furnished by members of the New Band. A sumptuous feast of delicacies was spread before those who attended. The presents left with them were numerous and valuable consisting of a complete silver tea and water set furnished by Cresco friends and a fine silver fruit dish from Decorah friends. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson are held in high esteem by the people of Cresco and had it been generally known, the number of their guests would have been doubled.
