An Interesting Wedding
Mr. Thos. J. Emery and Miss Mary C. Bilek, were joined in the bonds of matrimony at the Maple Leaf school house last Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock, Rev. D. U. Perry officiating. Considerable comment has been aroused by this wedding on account of the fact that the groom is a colored gentleman and the bride a fair maid of the Caucasian type. Nevertheless it is believed by those interested in the wellfare of the contracting parties that these nuptials have been solemnized in the interest of their mutual happiness and good. Mr. Emery came from Ohio a year or two ago and has been working most of the time since, for Alex Hutton as a farm hand. He has proved a faithful, industrious and apt employe. His habits have generally been good and he has saved up earnings so that he is well prepared to provide for his young wife. Miss Bilek has been bereaved of both her parents, her father having departed this life about a year ago and her mother quite recently. We know nothing of her but what is good and praiseworthy and we sincerely hope she will find complete happiness in the wedded life with the husband of her choice. In the words of Rip Van Winkle. "May you live long and prosper."—Elma News-Register.

Transcriber's Note: The bride's last name is spelled two different ways,
