NAVAL MEDAL OF HONOR
Edward Victor Isaacs, lieutenant, senior grade. Born in Cresco, Iowa, December 18, 1891. Entered Naval Academy from Iowa. He was captured and imprisoned on German submarine and carried to Germany. Made three unsuccessful attempts to escape. On the fourth attempt he escaped to the American lines through Switzerland, and gave valuable information as to enemy operations.
