William Remy Cole of Mt. Pleasant

I am hoping to find a home for a letter written by Wm. R. Cole to my cousin, James Stanton, (of Springboro, OH), probably, before his death in 1852.

It sounds as if Wm. R. Cole has depleted his funds and unable to continue with a property loan. The letter looks to have been written from Wilmington, Dearborn Co, IN which is maybe fifty miles west of Cincinnati.

An entry on Find-A-Grave has a very nice obituary for a Wm. Ridley Cole born in Dearborn Co, IN, but who moved to IA when he was twelve. He is buried in Forest Home Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, IA. There, he and his brothers established a prosperous business which belies the dire financial straits described in the letter. Further reading tells of a brother who still lives in IN, but west of Indianapolis, some 130 miles from Wilmington, IN.

Posting this in the event existing relatives may find this of value.
