Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Wayland Mennonite church with Gerry Klopfenstein and Pam Unruh officiating. Burial was in the North Hill Cemetery. Visitation began at noon Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Memorials in the name of Wilma E. Kauffman may be designated to North Hill Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Library large print books, or the Wayland Mennonite Church.

Wilma E. Kauffman was born in Noble on April 3, 1912, the daughter of William and Anna (Eicher) Boshart. She was married to Max L. Kauffman on February 7, 1931 in Kahoka, MO.

Wilma worked in the Wayland area most of her life, first on the family farm and later at the Wayland Sale Barn. She also worked at the Zehr tax offices for 20 years.

She attended the Eicher Mennonite Church as a child. She was baptized and confirmed in the Wayland Mennonite Church where she was active through all but the latter years of her life. She especially enjoyed the quilting circles and sharing that particular heritage with others. Wilma was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and past president of Chapter J of TTT. She blessed her family and friends with a gracious love and an ever-optimistic sense of humor that will be sorely missed by all she knew.

Survivors include daughter, Dianne (James) Roth, Mt. Pleasant, as well as twin sons, William (Barbara) Manitowish Wates, WI, and Robert (Pam), Grays Lake, IL, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband on December 8, 1992 as well as two brothers, Vernon and Vere; one sister, Ina Peterson; and two half sisters, Harriet Salzman and Irene Schrock.
