Lloyd Edward Hinkle, 75, of rural Wayland died Wednesday December 8, 2004 at New Longdon Nursing and Rehab Center. The funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11 at Trenton Missionary Church with the Revs. Stephen Ortmann, Larry Secor, Gary Hinkle, and Pastor Don Johanson officiating. Burial was in the Green Mound Cemetery, west of Trenton. Visitation was held from noon to 8:00 PM on Friday December 10 at Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family present from 6:009-8:00. Memorials have been established for Trenton Missionary Church and Timber Lakes Camp near Ottawa, Kan., the Midwest District Missionary Church Camp.

Mr. Hinkle was born March 28, 1929 near Brighton, the son of Clarence and Nina Egli Hinkle. He married Imogene Moore July 24, 1949 at her parents' home in Lockridge. He attended school in Henry County. He served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1952. He worked at J. J. Case in Burlington, creameries in Mt. Pleasant and Brighton, and at Messer Oil Co. in Washington for 18 years. In his latter years, he did what he enjoyed most, which was farming. He became a Christian early in life and lived his life dedicated to God, church, and family. He was a lifelong member of the Trenton Missionary Church where he served as deacon. He also served on the Midwest District Missionary Church Camp Board.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis and his wife Monica Hinkle of Burlington and Donald and his wife Kim Hinkle of Des Moines; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a brother John and his wife, Dorothy Hinkle of Wayland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Harold, and his wife Ellen; and a sister, Mary Reighard and her husband Gene.
