Levi Hester, departed this life July 29th, 1891, at the home of his son Benjamin, in Baltimore township, Henry county, Iowa, being in the 75th year of his age. Levi Hester was born in Clinton county, Ohio, march 29, 1817. He came with his family to Henry county in 1871 and has lived here ever since. Brother Hester has been a great sufferer for some time, but bore it all with Christian patience. he was ready to go. He had that faith that "plucks out the sting of death, brings life and immortality to the soul." He was the father of seven children, five of whom are still living. About twelve years ago his wife died, since which time he has made his home with his son Benjamin, where he was so kindly cared for until the last. He was converted and united with the Methodist church, last winter, at a meeting held by Rev. Randolph, pastor of Lowell circuit. He was highly esteemed by all who know him, and will be greatly missed in his neighborhood and church. The funeral was preached by the writer, assisted by Rev. Newell. A large congregation of friends and neighbors was assembled, and the body was laid to rest in the Reece cemetery, to await the resurrection morn. "When my spirit clothed immortal Wings its flight to realms of day, This my song through endless ages, Jesus led me all the way." Rev. R. S. Tague Mt. Pleasant Free Press, Aug. 6, 1891, p.2.
