Mount Pleasant News Tuesday June 21, 1938
Katie L. Courtney, youngest daughter of John and Nancy Courtney was born Jan. 4th, 1867, near Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and died June 4, 1938, aged 71 years and 4 months.
In the fall of 1902, she with her sisters, Maggie and Hattie, moved into Mt. Pleasant from the farm (it having been sold) to the property at 408 E Webster street. Katie's brothers, John, James and Henry and sisters, Anna Clark, Maggie and Hattie Courtney, Mary Lee, Rose Barry, Martha Mills and Eliza Calhoun have all preceded her in death. Katie was of a quiet disposition, and always spoke good of people, was a good neighbor, and a good Christian woman.
She was laid to rest beside her brother, Henry, in the Catholic cemetery June 6th.
