Atlas Henry County Iowa Monday July 30, 1900
JAMES B. CORNICK.
At eleven o'clock Saturday night at his home in Canaan township occurred the death of James B. Cornick. He was born in 1845 in Des Moines county and resided there until 1878. Since then he has lived in Henry county. In 1856 he was married to Miss Rosalia Hughes of Burlington, Iowa. Four children were born to them, two of whom died in infancy. He has been a constant sufferer for two years with a complication of diseases which resulted in pernicious anaemia and the death angel came as a relief. It will be a sad autumn to wife and children and his many relatives and friends who will lay him away to see him no more until they too have crossed the dark river.
There is grief and sadness in our home today, but in heaven there is joy because another soul has been washed in the blood of the Lamb and has passed through the waters of tribulation to the home of grace and mercy and love.
Mr. Cornick leaves a wife and two children, Mr. Leo Cornick of this city and Mrs. C.J. Gavin of Ottumwa, also two brothers and two sisters, Mr. Dave Cornick of Mt. Union, Mr. Thomas Cornick of Marsh, Mrs. A McAllister of Winfield, Mrs. W. Loper of Sperry; and also May and Ruth Gavin and Catherine Cornick, his three little granddaughters to mourn his loss.
