AN UNEXPECTED DEATH.

Mr. H.D. Walker Passed Away Last Evening.

Has Been in Failing Health For Some Time, But Death Was Not Expected So Soon-The Funeral Will Be Held Friday Afternoon.

Mr. H.D. Walker passed away at his home on South Jefferson street last evening...The funeral will be held from the home Friday afternoon at four o'clock, and will be according to the ritual of the Knights of Pythias, the grand officers conducting the services. The Odd Fellows will assist.

The interment will be in the Old City cemetery in the family lot and beside his brother and his son.

Mr. Walker was born near Chambersburg, Pa., Oct. 16, 1830, his parents being William and Mary Walker. The family was of Irish lineage; the Grandfather Walker was born in Scotland and came to America in his youth with his parents, who settled near Carlisle, Pa., at an early period in the development of that state.

Mr. Walker was reared upon his father's farm on the famous site of the battle of Gettysburg and when eighteen years of age, entered upon an apprenticeship of the plasterer's trade, becoming an expert workman.

...at Piqua, Ohio...married to Miss Isabella Redman, a daughter of Samuel and Esther Redman. To Mr. and Mrs. Walker were born four children-Charles D. of this city, Mary B. Adams of Aurora, Ill.; Hattie M. DeLaubenfels of La Grange, Ill., and William F., who died in his twentieth year.

In 1856, he removed to this city...In fraternal circles and all over the state Mr. Walker was known familiarly as "Dad" Walker...
