Later he changed his membership to the Wayland Congregation of General Conference Mennonites and was a faithful member until death. On February 22, 1865 he was united in marriage to Anna Huser of Indiana who preceded him in death November 17, 1907. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Rich moved to Lee County, Iowa where they lived for one year, after which they came to Henry County, where he spent the remainder of his life. To this union were born eleven children, of which two daughters and one son preceded the father in death. There remain seven sons and one daughter, Philip, Mrs. Fannie Christner, Jacob, Joseph, David, Peter, Christian, and Samuel, sixty grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
