Wayland News – Thursday June 17, 1926

Jacob Egli, son of Jacob and Barbara Egli deceased, was born in Trenton township, Henry County, Iowa, July 24, 1867 and departed this life June 6, 1926, aged 58 years 10 months and 12 days.

He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour in his youth, uniting with the Mennonite church. On February 16, 1921, he was united in marriage with Flossie Hilbrant. This union was blest with one daughter. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves his wife and three year old daughter, four sisters, Mrs. Jacob Roth, Mrs. Peter Graber, Mrs. Pete Roth, Mrs. Roy Smith, one brother, Jona Egli all of Wayland, Iowa, and a large number of relatives and friends and neighbors to mourn their loss.

The funeral was held at the Green Mound church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Frank E. Weston pastor of the First Baptist Church at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and Simon Gingerich of the Sugar Creek church near Wayland, Iowa. Interment in the Green Mound cemetery.
