On last Wednesday afternoon, the sudden death of Mrs. Madeline Kesselring was announced. It was unexpected as her sickness was of short duration, lasting only two days. She was born in Alsace, France, June 15, 1821. She came to American in 1840, and was married to M. Kesselring at Summitville Ohio in 1842. In 1855 they came to Iowa and for many years their residence has been in Trenton. Ten children were welcomed to their home, eight of whom are living: Elizabeth Greagg, Anna Yeager, and Henry of Keokuk Iowa, Lena Hawk of Denver Colorado, John and George of Trenton, Maggie Loeffler who died about 1878 and Kate, who died in Colorado in 1883. Several grandchildren are also left to mourn her loss, one of whom, Katie Leoffler, whose mother died when she was young, reverenced her not only as grandmother, but almost as mother.

Not knowing Mrs. Kesselring personally, we can only repeat the verdict of others, which is that a kind mother, a good and generous friend, and a pleasant neighbor are gone.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Eicher of Wayland, after which followed by a very long procession, she was laid to rest at Green Mount Cemetery.
