OBITUARY: Mt. Pleasant News, Wed. October 14, 1942; Page 1 Column 3

Mrs. John Schlatter died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Schrock, at 12:30 this morning after an illness of several months. Mrs. Schlatter,who was 85 years old, was born on March 1, 1857, and resided in the Wayland community her entire life. Her husband preceded her in death.

Six children survive: David, John, William, Mrs. Emma Schrock, Mrs. Simon Gingerich, all of Wayland, and Mrs. Ann Yoder, of Wellman. A brother, Benjamin Miller of Olds, Iowa also survives. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 at Sugar Creek Church, Rev. Willard Liechty officiating. Burial at Sugar Creek Cemetery. Six neighbors, Chris Schlatter, John Conrad, Menno Freyenberger, John and William Kauffman, and Ed Miller, will be pallbearers.
