Darlene M. Crile, 79, of rural Trenton, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at her home.

Born Aug. 3, 1926, in rural Washington County, she was the daughter of David R. and Ada F. Christner Schantz. On Aug. 5, 1945, she married Carlys Crile in rural Washington County.

Mrs. Crile helped her husband on the family farm in the Trenton area for 60 years.

She was a graduate of Washington High School. She enjoyed gardening, song birds, writing poems and letters and antique collecting. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Henry County Farm Bureau and the Ladies Auxiliary of Old Threshers.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Janice Baumann of Waterloo; five sons, Dennis Crile, Marlin Crile and Curtis Crile, all of Glenwood, Bennett Crile of Mount Pleasant and Bradley Crile of Wayland; seven grandchildren; one brother, Donald Schantz of Washington; and four sisters, Pauline Duck of Olathe, Kan., Lavina Barton of Lockridge and Ellen Crossett and Betty Beenblossom, both of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings and one sister.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Beatty–Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Crile will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Forest Home Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Wilken officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

A memorial has been established for the Voice of the Retarded.
