Does any one in this city or county remember a former resident, Rev. Simeon Waters, who lived here about 1854, or any relatives of his? If any one does, will they please notify "The News"? Information regarding him, when he died, where he is buried, or where any relative lives is wanted by Prof. F.I. Herriott, of Drake University, Des Moines. Rev. Simeon Waters lived in this city about 1854, and was prominent in Iowa politics at that time, being nominated for governor on the Free Soil ticket. He also owned real estate and laid out Waters' Addition, which lies between Lincoln and Adams just east of the German campus. Information is wanted for the early history of Iowa and if relatives can be located, it may help on the work.
