Arlene Bloom, 91, passed away April 19, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Anna Arlene Trowbridge Bloom was born Oct. 16, 1925 in Logan, the daughter of Claude and Lois Trowbridge. She graduated from Logan High School in 1942 and from Clarkson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Neb. with an R.N. Degree in 1946. During her nursing career, she worked as a school nurse, in a doctor’s office, and specialized in pediatrics.
Arlene was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of P.E.O. Chapter DP. She was First Lady of Nebraska/Iowa Kiwanis District in 1981 and 1982 and the First Lady of the Iowa Newspaper Association in 1988. Arlene was a member of the Logan Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Eugene Bloom. Survivors include her husband, Gerald D. Bloom, sons Kent Bloom and Steven Bloom and daughter Karen Kim, eleven grandchildren, and 15 great-grand children. She loved to travel with her husband, including visiting all fifty states and three trips to Europe.
