Died

At his home near Logan, Iowa, December 4, 1898, of Bright's disease, Thomas J Acrea.
Thomas J Acrea was among the pioneers who found their way to Harrison Co., Iowa, in November 1855, and settled in Jefferson Twp. He accompanied his father Wm. Acrea, who bought a farm in the spring of 1856 in said township, and who died October 17, 1869.
Thomas J. was born in Clay county, Indiana, September 22, 1837, and was therefore in his 61 year at the time of his death.
In 1855 the family might have been seen wending their way overland by horse team to the fertile valleys of Harrison county, Iowa. Their outfit consisted of a horse team and an ox team and a drove of cattle, numbering 30 head, a part of which belonged to S.S. Case, who came through with them.
The deceased was married to Miss. Sarah A. Deal, of St. John township, March 9, 1865, and fourteen children were born to them. The deceased was a man highly esteemed as an honest, liberal and industrious farmer, social in is disposition and a kind husband and parent and his death is regretted by a large circle of neighbors and friends. At this writing the time and place of burial is not known to us.
