Carroll Hobson of Eldora passed away Tuesday in Iowa City. Funeral services for Carroll Hobson will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa Falls. A time of visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Linn's Funeral Home.

Carroll Hobson of Eldora, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the University Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services for Carroll Hobson will be 10:30 am Saturday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 520 College Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 641-648-2569. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o his son: Brian Hobson, 305 Vinton Avenue, Eldora, Iowa 50627. Burial will be at the Eldora City Cemetery, Eldora, Iowa, with military honors provided by the Eldora American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars

Carroll J. Hobson was born January 27, 1921, at Clemons, Iowa, the son of Pleasant Ellis and Rosa Della [Brindle] Hobson. He graduated the Eldora High School with the class of 1938, and attended Iowa State University. He served with the United States Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

On November 15, 1942, Carroll was united in marriage to Catharine E. Corlett at Eldora, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Brian, Mark, and twins: Maurice, and Maureen. The couple farmed north of Eldora, Iowa, for many years. He was a 65 year member of the Walter-Sayer American Legion Post # 182, Eldora, Iowa.

Carroll Hobson is survived by his children: Brian A. [Wanda] Hobson of Eldora, Iowa, Mark E. [Janey] of Eldora, Iowa, Maurice E. [Leslie] of Whitten, Iowa, Maureen H. [John] Allan of Iowa Falls, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Joshua [Sara] Hobson of Eldora, Iowa, Curtis Hobson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jessica [Jon] Kies of Eldora, Cody Hobson of Davenport, Iowa, Cayne Hobson of Whitten, Iowa, Celsey Hobson of Conrad, Iowa, Eric [Lisa] Wiechmann of Huxley, Iowa, Ethan Wiechmann of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Emily Wiechmann of Omaha, Nebraska; six great grandchildren: Jacoby Hobson, Carter and Dawson Kies, Makiya Holland, Michael and Ella Wiechmann; two sisters: Ruth [Ron] Holm of Sarasota, Florida, Betty [Pete] Kearns of St. Petersburg, Florida; and three brothers: Robert [Mary Lou] Hobson of Hillman, Minnesota, John [Lola] Hobson of Danville, Iowa, and Bill [Diane] Hobson of Marshalltown, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents: Rosa and Pleasant Hobson; his wife: Catharine E. Hobson; a grandson: Jacob Hobson; and an infant sister: Dorothy Hobson.
