Wallace Schwinger, Jr.
October 18, 1932 - January 7, 2009

Wallace Schwinger, 76, of Hubbard, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Eldora Nursing & Rehab Center in Eldora, IA.

Wallace Delmar Schwinger, Jr. was born October 18, 1932 in Hubbard, Iowa. He was one of two children born to Wallace and Vera Schwinger.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Hubbard, Iowa.

He graduated from Hubbard High School with the Class of 1951. He entered the United States Air Force, after graduation serving as a flight engineer and radar technician. Wallace served for 20 years. He also worked for his dad and Mel Boeke. He then owned and operated a gas station in California for several years. After his retirement, he returned to Hubbard, Iowa.

He had 3 children: Mark Schwinger (deceased), Moyra Hower and husband Scott and Suzi and husband Doug OBrien. He was also blessed with four grandchildren, Kelsie and Matt Hower and Mark and Mariah Pennewell.

Wallace passed away January 7, 2009 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wallace is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Janet and Poody Doering and his nephews Stephen Doering and wife Diane of Webster City, Iowa, Mike Doering and wife Brenda of Hubbard, Iowa, Craig Doering and wife Linda of Ames, Iowa and Larry Doering and wife Lynn of Hubbard, Iowa.

Wallace enjoyed golfing and spending time at the Hubbard Golf course golfing and visiting. He will be greatly missed in Hubbard by those who knew him, especially on the golf course.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 am, Monday, January 12, 2009 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hubbard, IA.

There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service. ~ The Boeke Funeral Home, Hubbard, IA 7 Jan 2009.
