DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT
R. Bolander, One of Ackley's Well known Citizens Passes Away
Died at his home in this city, Monday evening at 10 o'clock, of rose cancer, R. Bolander, aged 82 years. Deceased had been ailing for two or more years, and although of a robust constitution for one of Ills age, yet his affliction was beyond the control of physicians, and after a confinement to his bed of about three months, his soul took its flight to its eternal home.

R. Bolander was born in Union county, Pennsylvania, in the year 1818, and in 1841 with his family removed to Stephenson county, Illinois where they remained until 1867 when they came to this city and had resided here continuously since. The greater part of his life here he was engaged in the hotel business, and built and managed the old Ackley house, until it was destroyed by fire about a dozen years ago, when he retired from active business, and since then has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Meyer. During his hotel career he was considered one of the most popular landlords in the state, and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He was the father of thirteen children, seven of whom are living. They are: John, Dan, Sam, Frank, Mrs. Geo. Eggert, Mrs. Lizzie Meyers, of this city, and Mrs. Jake Reese, of Belmond. His wife died about eight years ago.

The funeral will take place from the home on east Main street, this afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Rabing of the United Evangelical church, officiating, and the remains will be interred in the family lot in the Ackley cemetery.
