Mildred Burkley, age 95, of Ackley, died on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 1st at the Methodist Church in Ackley with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery, Ackley. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Mildred Kathryn Clawson was born February 25, 1917 in her parents home in Butler County, Iowa. Her parents were George and Mary Clawson. The family moved to a farm north of Ackley and Mildred graduated from Geneva High School in 1932. She married Carl Frederick Burkley on December 2, 1937. To this union were born three daughters: Judith Burris of Ames, Iowa, Janet Johnson (William) of Altus, Oklahoma and Beverly Greiner (Steven) of Ackley, Iowa.

Mildred was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, 416 Hardin Street, Ackley, Iowa, serving her Lord in various areas. She was a member of Ruth Circle. Mildred spent most of her life on the farm with Carl. Sewing, quilting, art work, and card clubs brought her much enjoyment. Mildred moved to Genesis Place in 1997.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Willard and Newton Clawson. Survivors include: Three daughters Judith, Janet (William) and Beverly (Steven); Nine grandchildren Jeffrey Burris (Natalie) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, John Burris (Verushka) of Niwot, Colorado, Jennifer Garn (Gregg) of Norman, Oklahoma, Jason Burris of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jacinda Johnson (Eric Leuschner) of Hays, Kansas, Jeremy Johnson (Emily) of Columbia, Missouri, Jodana Borden (William Lee III) of Norman, Oklahoma, Matthew Greiner (Natasha) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Michael Greiner of Dubuque, Iowa, Fourteen great-grandchildren Nathan and Joel Burris, Morgan and Kevin Burris, Kathryn, Dylan and Allison Garn, Emmaline and Edison Leuschner, Finley, Lydia and Reid Johnson and William Lee IV and Elinor Borden One brother Glenn Clawson of Clovis, California.
