YOUNG, BURDICK, WAHLERT, BRUMMOND

Mary Jane Young

Mary Jane Burdick was born in Birdsall, Allegheny county, N. Y., on Jan. 28, 1862, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Burdick. At the age of 6 she came to Wisconsin with her parents, there residing for nine years. In 1876 she came with her parents to Britt, which place has been her home since.

February 9, 1884, she was united in marriage to Mr. C. W. Young. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive, The children are Mrs. Alice Wahlert, Britt; Mrs. Lelia Brummond, Kanawha; Floyd Young of Laurens. The husband and one son were drowned in the Cedar River at Waterloo about eleven years ago.

Besides her children, Mrs. Young is mourned by three sisters, a brother, her aged mother, several grand children, nieces and nephews.

Death occurred at a hospital in Des Moines on Jan. 5, 1917, caused from tumor of the brain. Remains were brought to Britt and funeral services in charge of Rev. W. G. Muhleman were held from the M. E. church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30. A host of friends of the bereaved family gathered to pay last respects to deceased. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
