She Passed on to Reward
Grandma Wakefield Breather Her Last, Monday A.M.

Grandma Wakefield passed away at her home in the south part of town Tuesday morning at 2:30 o'clock. For a long time Mrs. Wakefield has been ill, and her advanced age was against her improvement. Her only daughter, Mrs. Jane Sanders, whose home is at Waterloo has been with her a great deal of the time administering to her comfort. A granddaughter, Miss Laura Thomas, a student in Garner High School has also been with her. Funeral services will be in charge of Rev. A. W. Wiggins, pastor of the Congregational church this afternoon and interment will be in Concord Cemetery. A complete obituary of this venerable old lady is here appended.

Mrs. Amelia Wakefield was born in Erie County, New York in 1835. In 1836 she moved to Branch county Michigan where she lived until 1860 and then moved to Benton county Iowa. Later she came to Garner, Hancock County, Iowa.

In her early years she was married to Edwin Gray. To this union were born two daughters, one of whom survives her. In 1866 she was married to Marcus Wakefield. Two daughters were born to this union. She leaves one daughter, one step daughter and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Wakefield was a woman of the old school and her life was of sterling quality in each department of its various duties. She was a wonderful woman in many ways and her past life was full of interest and deep pathos.
