Two Algona Men Killed In Car Wreck

Tom Wagoner and Sam Hedrick Instantly Killed Last Thursday.
Accident Occurred North of Algona.
Were Racing With Another Car. Tried to Pass Truck and Rolled Over Three Times.

An automobile accident claimed the lives of two Algona men last Thursday afternoon between five and six o'clock when Tom Wagner, Algona barber for a number of years, and Sam Hedrick, former manager of the Mid-Continent oil station in Algona were killed as the car in which they were riding turned over three times near the road which crosses the Milwaukee and joins No. 18 near the Johnson corner. ---- [additional information about accident] ---

Wagoner Born in Illinois

Thomas Floyd Wagoner was born at Hoopeston, Illinois, on June 3, 1893, and died at Algona September 10, at the age of thirty eight years. He came to Iowa when he was two years old with his parents, and they settled at Britt. He was united in marriage to Ellen Anderson of Algona on December 11, 1912, and eight years ago they moved to Algona. They have one daughter, Janice. Besides the wife and daughter the deceased is survived by his aged father who lives in Algona and three brothers, Dale of Kanawha, Dan of Olive, California, and Austin of Long Beach, California, and four sisters, Mrs. J. F. Behlmer and Mrs. B. P. Benson of Algona, Mrs. A. R. Knoll of Kanawha and Mrs. Robert Spears of Long Beach.

Funeral services were held Sunday at one thirty at the Merritt Funeral Home in Algona with Rev. C. V. Hulse of the Methodist church in Algona officiating. Burial was in the Britt cemetery.
