A sad accident occurred in the Boehnke settlement north east of Garner Thursday evening, May 4th, 1895. August Zesmer, a boy about 11 years old had just came in from his days work and was unhitching his team, when they became frightened and ran away, the wagon passing over his body. He was carried to the house, but death released him from his sufferings soon after. The funeral service was held at the Lutheran church and his remains were laid to rest in Concord cemetery Friday morning, Rev. Bahr conducting the service. The afflicted family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
