John E. Wichman
Senator from Forty-third district, was born at Galena, Ill, April 16, 1859. Educated in the public schools of Galena and Northwestern German English Normal school. Removed to Hancock county, Iowa, in 1879 where he has since resided. Taught school in Illinois and Hancock county, Iowa, for four years, and was admitted to the bar in 1884, and since that time has given his attention to the practice of law, and to banking. Was county attorney for four terms. Was married to Mary L. Prescott in 1888 and has two daughters, Lois and Charlotte. Was elected representative in 1916 and re-elected in 1918. Elected senator in 1920. A republican in politics.
