Gladys Tipping, 93, Webster City, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Crestview Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.

Gladys Leona Nelson, daughter of Hans and Henrietta Cooter Nelson, was born June 23, 1908 on a farm north of Duncombe. She attended rural schools in Fremont Township. On December 13, 1927 she married Ellis Edward Tipping at the Church of Christ in Webster City. The couple farmed in Fremont Township for 46 years, retiring to Webster City in the fall of 1979. She was a homemaker. Mr. Tipping died January 18, 1993. She moved to Crestview Manor on March 12, 1999.

Mrs. Tipping is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Carleen Tipping of Ames; Ervin and Jan Tipping of Medford, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law, Leila and Frank White of Westminster, Colo.; Charlene and Ronald Burgin of Rock Hill, SC; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Verne Nelson of Otho; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, Elton Tipping, daughter-in-law Joyce Tipping; her parents, 2 grandsons, 2 great-grandsons, brothers, Harold, Lloyd and Roy Tipping; sisters, Blanche Hayes, Mildred Doolittle, Nora Baldwin, Opal Weidlein and two siblings in infancy.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, a deaconess and church circles.
