Funeral services for Walter Whipple, 77, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stewart Brightwell officiating and with burial in Graceland Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday, at which time the casket will be taken to the church.

Mr. Whipple, a longtime resident of this city, died early Wednesday at his home, 704 First St., of an apparent heart attack.

Walter Ralph Whipple, son of William and Amy Smith Whipple, was born Feb. 28, 1905 at Webster City. He was reared and educated here.

He married Harriet Idella Fisher on Sept. 25, 1924 at Webster City. He was employed by People's Natural Gas Co. for many years, later engaged in farming and was employed by the Osmundson Forge Co. until his retirement in 1971.

He is survived by three sons, LaVere T. Whipple of Seattle, Wash., Rev. Maynard Whipple of Kansas, Okla., and George Whipple of Conrad, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Whipple of Webster City, and five sisters, Frances Whipple of Webster City, Wilma Whipple of San Jacinto, Calif., Mrs. James (Edie) Sharyer of San Jacinto, Calif., Mrs. Clinton (Dora) Kersten of Woodburn, Ore., and Mrs. Jack (Sue) Logan of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his wife in October, 1966; one son and one daughter in infancy; his parents; one brother and one sister.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge.
