Peter Engstrom was born in Roteberg, Ovanåker, Gävleborg, Sweden, January 16, 1844. He died at the home of his son, Fred Engstrom, southeast of this place, December 22, 1928 at the age of 84 years, 1 month, 4 days.

He came to America 1867 and located at Bishop Hill, Illinois. In 1869 he was married there to Miss Betsy Nelson. Seven children were born to this couple of whom four have preceded the husband and father in death.

The family came from Bishop Hill to the South Marion community in 1878 and lived here for a number of years. Later they moved to Texas and lived in that state until a few years ago when they again became residents of this section. Mr. Engstrom is survived by his wife and three sons, John and Fred Engstrom of Stratford, and Edward Engstrom of Texas, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held from the South Marion Methodist Church Monday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. K. A. Stromberg, and the remains were interred in the South Marion Cemetery.
