Harold Hokel, 88, of Webster City, died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Mike Kroona, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.
Harold George Hokel, son of Leonard and Anna Thiele Hokel, was born October 29, 1929 at Toledo. He graduated from Marshalltown High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Joann Steege on March 7, 1954 in Clear Lake. Harold worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 43 years and American Family Insurance for 25 years. Joann preceded him in death in 2004.
He is survived by his sons, Karl Hokel of Webster City, Kyle (Nancy Matthews) Hokel of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Kurt Hokel of Ottawa, KS; grandchildren, Megan (Josh) Smith and Tiffanee Hokel and her mother, Vicki Hokel; great-grandchildren, Joy, Eliana and James; sister, Charlotte “Hoke” Farr of Marshalltown; sister-in-law, Alice Nielsen of Clear Lake and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann; brothers-in-law, Jack Farr and Floyd Nielsen; nephew, Tom Farr; and niece, Nancy Whaley.
Harold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 191.
