Glenn H. Carlson

Glenn H. Carlson, 72, longtime Jewell area farmer, died suddenly Friday evening at the Story City Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Norbert Jolivette officiating and with burial in the South Marion Cemetery near Stratford.

Glenn Harlan Carlson, son of Frank August and Jennie Peterson Carlson, was born Oct. 6, 1905, in the East Marion community. He was graduated from Stratford High School in 1925.

He was married Dec. 25, 1928, to Alice Fisher, and the couple farmed southeast of Stratford, moving in 1941 to a farm southwest of Jewell where they had since resided and engaged in farming.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Clyde (Marilyn) Crawford, Ames, Neil Carlson, Jewell, Gary Carlson, Jewell, and Alan Carlson, Dyersville, Iowa; two grandchildren, Mrs. Daryle (Susan) Keasey and Jason Carlson, both of Jewell, three great-granddaughters, Michelle, Cherie and Shannon Keasey; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Floyd (Gladys) Young, Stratford, Mrs. Ethel Town, Webster City, and Lester M. Carlson, Leesburg, Fla., and also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of the Ames Angus Association, the Hamilton County Farm Bureau and had served as a 4-H Club leader for 15 years.
