Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Tuesday, August 2, 1955

Charles C. Gerber, 87, longtime Hamilton county resident, died early Tuesday morning at the Tyron Nursing home in Boone where he had been a patient the past month. He had been in ill health the past eight years.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 Thursday morning at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Reed Richards officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Charles C. Gerber, son of Daniel and Caroline Gerber, was born Feb. 4, 1868 in Germany. When he was a small boy he came with his parents to the United States, locating on a farm southeast of Webster City. He received his elementary schooling in that community and later attended and was graduated from the Capital City Commercial college in Des Moines.

He then moved to Texas where he worked as a telegraph operator in Dallas and El Paso for several years. In 1925 he returned to Iowa and had made his home in the Webster City community since.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Minnie Kirchner, Mrs. Kate Butler and Mrs. Anna Evans, Lewis, Fred and Henry Gerber. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.,
