Dale A. Simonson, 96 of Stratford, passed away on Thursday June 14, 2018. Dale was born on November 5, 1921 in Stratford, Iowa, the son of John Arthur Simonson and Lillie Wahman Simonson.

On November 11, 1942, Dale was united in marriage to Inez Fostberg at the Stratford Lutheran Church Parsonage. Dale raised Arabian horses his whole adult life and served on the board of directors for Arabian horse organizations. Dale was a farmer his entire life, starting in his childhood with his father. Dale and Inez spent their married life farming near Boone and Stratford.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Inez Simonson; parents, John and Lillie Simonson; brothers, Marvin and Earl; sister, Thelma Hinman; grandson, Paul Brian Thompson; son-in-law, Rodney “Rick” Harris; and daughter-in-law, Martha Simonson. He is survived by his children: Gary (Marilyn) Simonson of Fort Dodge, Janet (Paul) Thompson of Des Moines, Carol Harris of Stratford, John Simonson of Stratford, and Darlene (Stewart) Galloway of Walford; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; other relatives; and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Stratford. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the church. Burial will take place at the South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, following the funeral service. Memorials are suggested to the family.
