Roger Wepel, 76, of Eagle Grove, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will follow the services at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Roger Lyle Wepel, the son of Albert and Lucille Thompson Wepel was born on November 22, 1941 in Stanhope. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1960. He married Gloria Jean Maier on June 9, 1962 at Asbury Methodist Church. Roger worked at the Kamrar Elevator, the Webster City Co-Op, farmed by Woolstock and was the owner of Wepel Trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria of Eagle Grove; sons, Robert (Teresa) Wepel of Eagle Grove, Rodney (Lisa Shelton) Wepel of Renwick; grandchildren, Marc, Whitney and Lyndsey; and 9 great-grandchildren;
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Wepel and his best four legged friend, Roscoe.
Roger enjoyed the outdoors, camping, sprint car races, motorcycles and morning coffee with the guys. He talked to everyone and never met a stranger. He was a member of the Wild Bunch in Woolstock. For over 30 years they camped at the Iowa State Fair. Roger took pride in always being on time, had a love for the open road and cherished his time with his family.
