Albert Lamfers, 77, Adelanto, Calif., died Sept. 17, 1997, at Victorville Valley Community Hospital in Victorville. He donated his body to Loma Linda University of California.

Albert Wayne Lamfers, son of Albert and Anna Gay (Withers) Lamfers, was born July 31, 1920 in Eagle Grove, and later lived in Webster City and Williams. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went to submarine school. He was on a submarine throughout World War II. He served on submarine Drum (SS228). On Jan. 8, 1949, he married Margie Coleman and worked and lived in California.

He is survived by his wife; mother, Anna Gay, California; brothers, Frank, Russel and Paul, all of Missouri; and sister, Anna Jane, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father; and twin sisters, Liva and Neva.

Mr. Lamfers was a member of the America Legion Post 191 of Webster City.
