Darrell Ralph Anderson was born on June 11, 1937, to Carl and Alta (Harris) Anderson at the Boone County Hospital. He attended Dodge #2 country school and enrolled in the Stratford elementary school in the 4th grade. Pete graduated with the Stratford High School class of 1956. He worked for a short time in Riverside, CA, and then in Chicago, IL, before returning to the Stratford area where he farmed with his father and brother.

He married Marvalene Peterson and they raised three children: Kerry, Kelli, and Karla. Pete also worked at Lehigh Sewer Pipe & Tile. In 1999, he retired from the Stratford Grain and Supply/United Co-Op after 35 years of service. Pete was known for his whistle when he wanted the farmers to pull ahead or was finished emptying their trucks/wagons. He and his son, Kerry also enjoyed doing shingling projects for several years. After the death of his son, he lost interest in continuing that adventure.

Pete was a member of South Marion Methodist Church and later transferred his membership to Calvary United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always teasing them in a loving way. Pete had a great sense of humor and his wife was usually the topic of a lot of his jokes. He particularly liked to hunt mushrooms and pick asparagus when he was able to do so.

His son, Kerry, infant grandson, Jeremy Davis, parents, Carl and Alta Anderson, brother, Dean, two brothers-in-law, Leo Wisecup and Gene Peterson, and a sister-in-law, Karen Peterson preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Marvalene; two daughters, Kelli (Nolan) Peterson of Stratford, Iowa, and Karla (Tim) Anderson of Duncombe, Iowa; two sisters, Sharon Wisecup of Boone, Iowa, and Wilma (Noel) Westrum of Stratford, Iowa; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Jamie, Zachary, Erik, Joel, and Shelby; and four great-grandchildren, Ayveri, Dakota, Barrett and Wren.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Pete's family would like to extend an invitation for all to return to the Church for fellowship and lunch following the graveside services.
