Mrs. Marilyn Patrou, 51, longtime area resident, died Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., where she had been a patient the past six weeks.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Asbury United Methodist church with Rev. Edward Philgreen officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday and until 9:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church.

The family suggests that memorials be given to the Asbury United Methodist church building fund, the Continued Education fund of the P.E.O., the American Cancer Society and Meals-on-Wheels.

Marilyn Elaine Gerber, daughter of Walter H. and Ruth Humphrey Gerber, was born April 17, 1934 at Webster City. She was reared and educated at Kamrar where she was a member of the Iowa State champion and runner-up girls' basketball team. After graduation with the class of 1952 [according to the 1976 edition of the 'Sands of Time' which includes all graduating classes of Kamrar High School, she was a member of the class of 1951], she attended A.I.B. in Des Moines, returning to work as a secretary at Zitterell Mills Co. and the Beam Mfg. Co.

In 1955, she moved to Iowa City and entered training to be an X-ray technician. She stayed at the University of Iowa hospital and worked for one year as a staff instructor. In 1957, she accepted a position in the radiation therapy department of the new University of Missouri Medical Center at Columbia, Mo.

She was united in marriage Feb. 13, 1959, to John Patrou and the couple made their home in Webster City until December, 1960, when they were transferred to Bloomington, Ind., where they resided for five years, before being transferred to Cambridge, Ontario, Canada where Mr. Patrou became general manager of the Franklin Mgf. Co., LTD.

In 1970 they moved to Quebec where they resided until 1973, when a corporate transfer brought the couple back to Webster City. In November, 1975, the family moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., living there until January, 1978, when they returned to Webster City when Mr. Patrou was named president of the Webster City Products Co.

She is survived by her husband, two sons and one daughter, Peter John Patrou, Webster City, and Susan Lee Patrou, Winston-Salem, N.C. and Michael John Patrou, a sophomore at Iowa State University, Ames; her father, Walter Gerber, Webster City, two brothers, Dr. Henry W. Gerber of Spokane, Wash., and Rick Gerber of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist church and chapter E.L, P.E.O.
