Betty Buckley, 94, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Webster City passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, IA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.

Betty was born on August 23, 1923 in Webster City, IA to Roy and Delia (Lundell) Coulter. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City, IA. She was united in marriage to H. Wayne Maudlin on January 11, 1947. They were married for 25 years until he died from injuries suffered from a construction accident on April 13, 1972. She was later united in marriage to Robert Buckley on July 11, 1980. He preceded her on death in April 23, 1997. She was a Telephone Operator for North Western Bell and a homemaker dedicating her time raising her two sons.

In 1997, Betty moved from Webster City to Spirit Lake and was a resident at Hilltop Nursing Home since 2009.

Betty was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church and then Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. She enjoyed doing volunteer work, china painting, counted cross stitch and crewel embroidery.

She is survived by her sons Tom (Carolyn) Maudlin of Spirit Lake and Tim (Jan) Maudlin of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Jennifer (Tyler) Diedrich, Scott (Stefani) Maudlin, Eric (Sokhey) Maudlin and Laurie (Doug) Bensen; great grandchildren William Diedrich, Avery Bensen, cousin Chuck (Elizabeth) Coulter of Iowa City, IA and a niece Linda (Mike) Burt-Hitt of Laguna Hills, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers, Harold, Glen, Don and one sister Ioan.
