Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Monday, March 15, 1993

Gladys Halsne, 83, Webster City, died March 14, 1993 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home with Doug Halsne, Lynn Rainsley and Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home until time of service.

Gladys Lorene Neff [obituary is incorrect in that any place it mentions her maiden name it is typed Ness for Neff is correct] daughter of Edgar and Minnie (Huffman - here again another error - it's either Hougham or Houghman} was born Sept. 6, 1909 at Bloomington, Ill. As a small child she moved with her parents to Iowa. She attended school at Williams and Webster City. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught in rural schools.

On March 27, 1934 she married Milo Halsne at Nashua. The couple farmed southeast of Blairsburg and moved to Webster City in 1981.

She is survived by her husband, Milo; sons and daughters-in-law, Arlen and Darlene Halsne of Waterloo, Larry and Barb Halsne of Blairsburg; daughter and son-in-law, Bethene and Dave Player of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Darwin Neff of Fort Dodge; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Blairsburg. She was also a member of the Tuesday Ladies Bible Study and the Thimble Club.
