Mary Erickson was born near Stavanger, Norway, February 12, 1850, and died here June 4, at her home, 314 First street, at the age of 77 years, three months and 22 days. She was the only daughter of Rachel and Erick Erickson.

She was united in marriage with Enoch Oakland on Sept. 24, 1875, and in the spring of 1876 they came to the United States settling near Lee, Illinois. To this union four children were born namely: Emma, William, Edward and Ella, Edward having passed away Jan. 22, 1904.

After living in Illinois ten years they moved to Iowa, settling near Blairsburg, where her husband died Sept. 21, 1913. The year following his death Mrs. Oakland came to Webster City where she resided until the time of her death.
