Bernadine Slauson, 86, Webster City, a former Blairsburg area resident, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 at Crestview Manor. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fos­ter Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial will be in the Blairsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday.

Bernadine Kathryn Fraley, daughter of Alvin and Agnes Miller Fraley, was born August 18, 1915 in Des Moines. She received her education in Des Moines schools graduating from East High in 1933. During World War II, she worked as a welder for Solar Aircraft of Des Moines. This is where she met Ralph Slauson and on Feb. 9, 1945 they were married at Cincinnati, Ohio. The couple started farming at Nevada, then Colo and Collins, then in 1957, they moved to a farm east of Blairsburg. She had been the lunch program manager at Northeast Hamilton for several years. They retired from farming in 1982. She moved to Crestview Manor in June of 2000. Mr. Slauson died Oct. 1, 2001.

Mrs. Slauson was survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Susan Slauson, Jefferson, James and Carol Slauson of Kansas City, Larry and Suzanne Slauson, Belle Plaine, daughter and son-in-law, Maris Jo and Roland Miles of Burnsville, Minn., 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Mary Jane Ohm and Helen Brown, both of Sacramento, Ca., several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Louie, Fritz, Robert and Sherman Fraley.

She was a member of Williams United Methodist Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, and a Methodist Youth Fellowship parent. She was also an Eastern Star member and a band mother.
