Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Monday, February 9, 1959

R.J. Wilson, 83, longtime City resident, died at 10:25 a.m. Sunday at the Hamilton county hospital. He had been in ill health the past two years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home. Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery.

Roland James Wilson, son of William and Mary Wilson, was born Dec. 29, 1875, on a farm near Kinmundy, Ill., and was reared and educated in that community.

He was united in marriage Sept. 26, 1904 to Mary Jane Hooker and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson farmed in Illinois until 1917, when they came to Iowa, locating on a farm north of Webster City. They farmed in Hamilton county until 1941, when they moved into Webster City to their home at 138 First St.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife; two sons and three daughters, Herschel and Herbert Wilson, both of Webster City, Mrs. Romey (Cleada) Smith of Decatur, Ill., Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Hill and Mrs. Edward (Alta) Johnson, both of Webster City; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, who died in infancy, by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Wilson was baptized in the Methodist faith.
