Myrtle Flygstad, 97, Webster City, died Monday evening, May 28, at the Hamilton County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Robert Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home is after 5 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when the casket will be taken to the church.

Myrtle Gertrude Johnson, daughter of Peter and Sallie (Monroe) Johnson, was born Feb. 11, 1893 in Webster City. She was educated in rural schools near Jewell. She graduated from Jewell High School in 1912. She married Bankie Flygstad on Jan. 5, 1916, in Des Moines. The couple farmed in Hamilton and Webster counties, and for three years, farmed near Barron, Wis. They retired to Webster City in 1947. Mr. Flygstad preceded his wife in death in October 1986. For the past five years, Mrs. Flygstad has resided at Southfield Care Center.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mildred (Mrs. Elmer) Clair, Donald Flygstad, and Kenneth Flygstad, all of Webster City; and Beth (Mrs. Elwood) Lastine, St. Paul, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Esther (Mrs. Virgil) Jones, Webster City; Iola Carr, Manchester, Naomi Klaver, Webster City; Lois (Mrs. Estelle) Voss, Jewell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Flygstad was a member of the Church of Christ of Webster City.
