LIFE STORY OF MERTIE FISHER

Mertie Brownlee Fisher was born April 9, 1870, at Viola, Ill., a daughter of David A. and Emily Brownlee, and departed this life March 8 at the Eggen Nursing Home in Casey at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 29 days.

When she was 11 years old she came with her parents to a farm north of Adair. On July 29, 1891, she and John A. Fisher were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage in Casey. To this union were born three sons, Glen and Bruce of Casey and Boyd of Sterling, Colo., and two daughters, Mrs. Bryan Land of Glenroe, Wyo., and Mrs. Dale Land of Gering, Nebr. There are 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A number of years ago Mr. and Mrs. Fisher moved from Adair to a farm south of Casey where the family resided until the death of Mr. Fisher in 1951. Mrs. Fisher had been in failing health for some time and had been bedfast for several months.

Also preceding Mrs. Fisher in death were her parents; four sisters, Maude Brownlee, Leanna Brownlee, Mrs. Sadie Galbraith, and Mrs. Nellie Moffitt; and one brother, Sanford Brownlee.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 11 at the Methodist Church in Casey.
